PHP MySQL Insert Multiple Records

PHP MySQL Insert Multiple Records

Insert Multiple Records Into MySQL Using MySQLi and PDO

Multiple SQL statements must be executed with the mysqli_multi_query() function.

The following examples add three new records to the "MyGuests" table:

Example (MySQLi Object-oriented)

<?php
$servername =
"localhost";
$username =
"username";
$password =
"password";
$dbname =
"myDB";

// Create connection
$conn = new mysqli($servername, $username, $password, $dbname);
// Check connection
if ($conn->connect_error) {

die("Connection failed: " . $conn->connect_error);
}

$sql =
"INSERT INTO MyGuests (firstname, lastname, email)
VALUES ('John', 'Doe', 'john@example.com');"
;
$sql .=
"INSERT INTO MyGuests (firstname, lastname, email)
VALUES ('Mary', 'Moe', 'mary@example.com');"
;
$sql .=
"INSERT INTO MyGuests (firstname, lastname, email)
VALUES ('Julie', 'Dooley', 'julie@example.com')"
;

if ($conn->multi_query($sql) === TRUE) {

echo "New records created successfully";
else {

echo "Error: " . $sql . "<br>" . $conn->error;
}

$conn->close();
?>

Note that each SQL statement must be separated by a semicolon.
